Google Penalty Poll
« on: May 28, 2009, 12:50:13 am »
I just got my google penalty lifted today and it feels great. I have been trying to get the thing lifted for a couple weeks and I didn't really know why I got one in the first place.

Let me explain - I built a normal forum and I hosted it on a local server. My ISP had a port 25 block so I used NOIP.com... Now this is why I got the penalty, I could not get my domain name to cover up my IP address so I used the NOIP.com mask... Which google thinks is cloaking. So... I eventually moved the site to a new server and now my penalty has been lifted. I was starting to get really frustrated.. But now, I'm enjoying a cold drink and tipping up to good times :)

Share your frustrations CHEERS!

I'm not sure if I received a Google penalty or not. The PR for one of the sites I work on dropped to 0, but at the same time, SERP's went up for most of the keywords.

The only thing I can think of that caused it was some kind of hosting setup glitch. Basically, they owned the .com and .net of their company name. The .net is the one ranked in the search engines, but instead of the .com forwarding to the .net, the same content would come up under either domain.

I recently fixed the issues with a 301 redirect, so I'm hoping that will bring their PR up again. But so long as the SERP's stay good, I doubt anyone will care.
